Discovering Your Destiny

Well, here is some powerful stuff:
 
Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

                  And before you were born I consecrated you;

                  I have appointed you a prophet to the nations."

It is the word "before" that really stirs my heart!

He formed me - I am not a mistake, or a coincidence, or a product of random chance. He formed me, "squeezed me into shape" is what it literally means. BUT before that, He "knew me". He knows me and He knew me before He even made me (He must like me!) It means "care" and "to ascertain by seeing" or "to watch over carefully". He has been "watching over me for a long time. Wowie Zowie…what an awesome realization that is in our lives!

     And before I was born He consecrated me. It means "set apart" and it conveys purpose. I was made to be set apart for Him. Jesus said to His disciples, "You didn't choose Me, I chose you and ordained you that you should bear fruit..." He made me to be fruitful, to see harvest, and to accomplish His purpose in my life.

     Jeremiah had been appointed a prophet to the nations. My purpose may be different but it is just as real. He has appointed me (and you). The word is literally "given as a gift". We are a gift to the world. We are gifted to be blessed and to become a blessing. We are a blessing from God to the world. Amazing!
